Being a Good Driver is Your Responsibility

Committing one of the offenses below is a common occurrence on the roads because let's be honest, there are no perfect drivers. But, because we share the road it's important to be a good driver who makes their safety and the safety of others a priority. Here are some tips to help you be the best driver you can be:

  • When at a four-way stop there are rules you should follow. One of the most confusing things about four-way stops is when you arrive at the same time as another driver. In that case, the driver on the farthest right has the right of way.
  • The far left lane is for passing. If you aren't passing another vehicle you should stay in the right lane. Cruising in the passing lane is one of the biggest frustrations for many drivers.
  • Don't honk your horn unless it's an emergency. Using your horn as a way to express your frustration or anger is inappropriate.
  • Don't tailgate the vehicle in front of you. Keep at least one car length between you and the vehicle in front of you, more if you're driving at faster speeds.
