Important Fall Maintenance for your Mazda

Brought to you by Pearson Mazda

Fall is here, which means cold weather is right around the corner! Our service department at Pearson Mazda wants to make sure your car is ready by recommending some services to take care of in the fall. These certified technicians are here to help you keep your Mazda on the road for as long as you own it. Keep reading below to learn the services that we recommend for your vehicle this fall.

Oil Changes

Oil is the lifeblood of your vehicle. It keeps all the moving parts inside your engine lubricated to protect from overheating. Over time, this fluid can break down and become harmful to your engine. When oil breaks down, it can create sludge, which is a black gelatin-like substance that can cause severe damage to the engine internals if left untreated. Old engine oil also gets dirt and debris in it. This can be abrasive to the moving parts. Regular oil changes will flush out the old oil, getting rid of this dirt and debris and replacing it with new oil. Our technicians will also replace the oil filter with a clean one to protect against new dirt and debris. It's also recommended to check other fluids, which our qualified technicians will do during the multipoint inspection.

Tire Rotation and Inflation

Going into the winter months, it is very important that you have your tires checked. Having low tread can cause slipping in inclement road conditions. To extend the tread life of your tires, we recommend rotating your tires every 5,000 miles. An easy way to remember this is having your tires rotated every oil change. It's also important to check the air pressure in your tires. On the inside of the door jam, there is a placard listing the recommended tire pressure.

Check the Battery

The heat of the summer months can cause damage to the cells inside your Mazda's battery. Having your battery tested will help make sure it is putting out the correct cold-cranking amps. A battery with low cold-cranking amps with have trouble or even fail to start in colder weather. Upon testing your battery, our Mazda technicians will let you know if your battery tested good or recommend its replacement.

Check the Heating and Defrosting System

With the winter months coming, it's important that you have your heating and defrosting system inspected. Of course, the heat helps keep you comfortable in the cold, but the defroster is also essential for your safety in the winter months. At the same time, our technicians will inspect your wiper blades to make sure they're not streaking and are providing optimal clearing.

Check your brakes

Your brakes are the most important parts of the safety of you and your passengers. From the brake lines to the calipers, pads, and rotors, you should make sure all are working properly before heading out in the winter months. Our service technicians will make sure all of your brake parts are in good condition to keep you safe this winter.
