If you have been a driver for any period of time, you have or know someone who has experienced a dead car battery. The battery in your Mazda is the core component of the electrical system. A healthy car battery ensures safe, efficient operation. Unfortunately, it can be hard to determine if your vehicle requires a new battery. A key sign of pending failure could be a sluggish starting cycle.

How long does a Mazda's battery last?

A typical battery will last 3 to 5 years but driving habits and exposure to extreme elements can shorten the life of your car battery. The service technicians at Pearson Mazda recommend checking your battery's life once a year or every 15,000 miles. You can check the life of your Mazda's battery from your driveway. A sticker on the top of the battery will tell you when it was "put in service" you can then determine how old it is. If you have decided that it is not older than three years, but you still have been experiencing sluggish starting, then a technician can run a "load test" in an attempt to predict just how much life may be left in your battery.

What is included in a battery service?
